Synopsis: Anu Ganti, Head of U.S. Index Investment Strategy at S&P Dow Jones Indices will discuss key highlights from the 2024 SPIVA (S&P Dow Jones Indices vs. Active) Scorecard, including how active managers fared in 2024 across equities and fixed income. She will also provide statistics from the 2024 Persistence Scorecard, which shows that consistent outperformance is typically hard to find. Looking ahead to the rest of 2025, Anu will analyze current conditions for stock pickers, and the benefits of indices, including the growth of the S&P 500 trading ecosystem. Joseph Hickey Executive Director, Equity Products at CME Group, will then discuss the benefits of capital efficiencies of portfolio margining, trends in products, and the rise of futurisation.

Format: There will be a 30 min conversation followed by an audience Q&A.

Mr Charlie Ryder

Manager, Regulatory Affairs, The World Federation of Exchanges

Charlie Ryder is a Regulatory Affairs Manager at the World Federation of Exchanges, leading the group's work on policy relating to ETFs, Clearing, and Systemic Risk. Charlie previously worked in Ernst & Young's Capital Markets Advisory business, following stints in private equity, hedge funds, and investment management. Charlie has masters degrees in Management and International Economic Policy, specialising in global risk and financial regulation.

Mr Joseph Hickey

Executive Director, Equity Products, CME Group

Joseph Hickey serves as Executive Director, Equity Products at CME Group, where he is responsible for developing and overseeing the company’s offerings across equities, alternative assets and cryptocurrencies. His market expertise is in derivative trading, market microstructure and macro products.

Hickey previously served as Global Head of Trading at BlockFi, where he expanded the firm’s institutional trading relationships and risk management processes. Prior to that, he managed an institutional distribution team at CME Group, responsible for building relationships across the buy-side, sell-side and intermediaries. He also held leadership roles at Bank of America and began his career at Goldman Sachs.

He earned a combined bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics from Stony Brook University, and a master’s degree in quantitative finance from the Michael Smurfit School of Business in Dublin, Ireland. He is active in professional organizations with both CFA and FRM designations.

Ms Anu R. Ganti, CFA

Head of U.S. Index Investment Strategy, S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI)

Anu R. Ganti is Senior Director and Head of U.S. Index Investment Strategy at S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI). The index investment strategy team provides research and commentary on the entire S&P DJI product set, including U.S. and global equities, thematics, commodities, fixed income and sustainability indices. She is also a frequent contributor to both print and broadcast media outlets.

Prior to joining S&P DJI, Anu worked in the asset management space, completing a post-MBA rotational program at Russell Investments within their fixed income research and trading divisions and working as a portfolio manager focusing on emerging market equities at Parametric Portfolio Associates (part of Morgan Stanley Investment Management).

Anu is a CFA charterholder and holds an MBA in finance and economics from Columbia Business School, and a bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing from NYU’s Stern School of Business.
